A missing or messy title stops most buyers. Here, it is one of the seven situations our intake is built for — complicated paperwork is welcome.
The price holds as long as the vehicle, title, mileage, and condition match what you submitted. If hidden or unreported damage is found at pickup, we’ll make the adjustment and give you a counter-offer on the spot — and the decision is yours.
A buyer reviews every application — most hear back within minutes between 8 AM and 8 PM.
Every application picks the situation that matches. Complicated paperwork is okay — choose yours and we will explain the correct next step before scheduling:
Titled in another state instead? That is its own situation, with its own page: selling a car with an out-of-state title.
Here is the claim most buyers won't make, because most buyers can't back it: in California, we can run the VIN. If it comes back not stolen and registered in your name, we can buy the car even with zero paperwork — no title, no registration card, nothing in the glovebox. The verification is the mechanism: the state's own record is what connects you to the car.
A lost California title is the easy version of the same story — a duplicate title exists (the DMV's REG 227 application), so a registered owner can sell to us without waiting on Sacramento's mail. And the line is just as plain in the other direction: if the VIN shows the car is not in your name, we cannot buy it. No exceptions and no workarounds — that check protects you as much as it protects us.
Out of state, the same zero-paperwork situation ends differently — we can't run another state's record the same way, so an out-of-state car with no paperwork at all is one we cannot buy. Those rules live on the out-of-state title page.
The title is the state document that proves who owns the vehicle. For pickup, have the title — or the paperwork for your situation above — and a current photo ID ready. If the title is lost, signed by another owner, or has a lien, tell us in the form so we can explain the correct next step before scheduling.
Disclose the situation up front. A title problem priced into the offer is a simple sale; the same problem found at pickup is a delay.

The buyer checks the VIN, title, mileage, and the same condition items you submitted. If everything matches, you sign the transfer paperwork, receive payment, remove your belongings, and hand over the keys. We then arrange the tow at no charge within the service area.
We prioritize trucks of any age, Japanese vehicles of any age, most 2010-and-newer cars, and vehicles with fixable issues, smog failures, expired registration, or complicated paperwork. Vehicles need a working key; one that won't start is still a fit when the cause is simple or unknown.
